A Story of Hope

Linda

After having been laid off a few times during the pandemic due to shutdowns and getting sick herself, Linda’s utility bill came due this month and she found herself unable to pay it. She contacted Good Neighbors and with the help of the GRACE fund we were able to get her back on track. Not only by helping to pay for a portion of the utility bill, but also to offer her resources to find steady employment. With these resources she is now able to take a step forward to gainful employment and stability.

Nora has been home on short term disability for the past several months after an injury. She stopped receiving her disability check last month and she is still waiting to hear back from the doctor to clear her to return to work. She is also helping to raise her teenage grandchildren and caring for an elderly parent. When the monthly utility bills came due this month she just couldn’t pay them all. Through another agency she heard of Good Neighbors and called us. We were able to help pay for one of the utility bills as well as offer her resources to help with food for a large family. She is most grateful for the assistance and is looking forward to getting back to work!

Larry is a veteran living in our community. He recently contacted COVID and had been out of work for several days causing him to miss a couple paychecks. He called Good Neighbors and was able to get assistance with his electric bill that had gone up significantly this month. Good Neighbors was able to help him pay the bill and avoid getting the power shut off through funds from a COVID grant. Larry is still recuperating and is appreciative of the assistance we were able to provide.
