News Updates for 2024

1

January

2024 brings new opportunities for Good Neighbors with the addition of our new Self-Sufficiency Program. We have partnered with the East Tennessee Collaborative (ETC) using the model called Economic Mobility Pathways, EMPath from Boston, MA. With this program, we are looking for 30 families that want to change their lives and are seeking financial independence through mentoring and a multitude of supportive services. Please share this information with someone who might be praying for an opportunity like this and share our contact information.

February

We started the year with a bang and a week of snow and ice. Please keep us in mind to help advocate for our neighbors who will be experiencing higher utility bills due to the freezing temperatures and those that could not get in to work for several days. Thank you to our Blount County neighbors who are able to come together to help those in need!

March

We are pleased to share that Good Neighbors was successfully able to help over 175 households avoid disconnection of utility services during the cold winter months and snow storm we had in January. This was made possible through the tremendous community support for GNBC and tireless advocacy for our neighbors. Thank you!

April

As we welcome warmer weather and enjoy the spring flowers, GNBC is preparing our calendar for upcoming events in the community. We have some fun community events and activities planned as well as fundraisers to help support GNBC. Stay tuned for ways you can get involved and help support our mission: to improve the quality of life in Blount County.
