A Story of Hope

Julie

Life can be so difficult in 2022.  Julie has a husband incarcerated, her children got COVID, she caught COVID from them & then had to have hand surgery.  Her work at a local restaurant was greatly impacted and her utility bill was due.  Good Neighbors was able to pay her utility bill and share with her resources for employment, budgeting, food pantries, etc.  She has applied for COVID assistance through the state and is awaiting confirmation.

Ginger just turned 19 and found out she is pregnant!  Her roommate moved out so she was having trouble with her rent.  She had just started a new job with good pay but the holidays off made her short.  Her last paycheck only included 4 days.  Good Neighbors with the help of the GRACE fund was able to pay the rest of her rent.  Once on a regular schedule she should be able to cover monthly expenses.

Jasmine’s utilities had already been cut off when she found out about Good Neighbors.  As a single mom, with a two-year-old at home she was devastated and afraid.  She works at a local fast food restaurant and makes decent money as long as she is able to work her full schedule.  Because she has a car payment, her finances are always tight, but she must have a car to get to work.  Her bill came at a bad time this month.  She had just paid her rent and her car payment and would not be paid until two days later.  She was unable to secure an extension from the utility company even for the two days.  Good Neighbors was able to cover the amount to get the utilities turned back on and also shared resources about food resources.  Jasmine was most appreciative.
